« on: March 17, 2006, 02:14:57 PM »
Hi Everyone[/color]
I hope this part is for asking for tips as well as suggesting them  :-\
I'm new to heat embossing and am having a few problems with a holographic powder and wondered if it was me or the powder - I've had a go with silver and gold and they both turned out ok but when I try with the holographic one well!!!! it looks awful
Anyone got any tips / do's + don't for me ???

Hi Janet,

A few tips hope they help

Dont overheat it - have done this myself and it dulls the effect

Better done on dark card looks amazing

Not tried this but just sprang to mind try embossing with black or dark ink and emboss on top may show the colours off better especially if you dont want to use dark card on your project.

Best wishes

I normally use a coloured inkpad to stamp with then use the holographic powder, remember it wont be as noiceable on light card, I think it works best on dark coloured card, but that is only my opinion.

I had the same problem with the holographic or sparkly embossing powders. They were just dull and horrible. The only ones I have no trouble with are the gold and silver shiny ones, not glittery. :-[ :-[
