I like the look of it but have never tried it. it seems expensive to start as you need to buy the iron thing. i was worried to buy the stuff then not get on with it.

Hello, I do encaustic art as a part of my craft making, basicly it comes down to painting with wax.
even if u make a mistake or don't like it, u move the iron back over it & start  or create another image ;D
just start with the basic's & the iron, i got a photo 1/2 full with pictures waiting for the right card to put them on.

Hope this helps  ;)

Hi Pippin
You must try Encaustic Art is is great. I have made some lovely pictures and so have my grandchildren when they were 5 and 7 with a bit of guidance from myself and their mother. You will be surprised at the outlet. It really does fascinate me. My hands are not good somedays but the iron does all the work, just be careful you don't get any drips of the wax onto clothes as it does stick to them, I have ruined a few garments in the beginning not realising what had happened. I got so carried away.
If you want any help please let me know and I will help any way I can. :) Sandra

Hi,

I got the encaustic art stuff out at the weekend after not using it for along time. I really enjoyed making pictures with the wax.
 :) :) :)
I will try to post them in the craft pictures section.

We orginaly bought the kit when Alan and Barry had encaustic art demonstrated on create and craft.
I `ve also bought extra waxes and stamps from a craft show.  It can be exspensive to start with buying the iron and waxes. I had a greater starter box that included wax, paper , instructions etc..  I also have a book and video which are really good, lots of tips.

I use an old table cloth to protect my work surface
and keep a box of tissues to hand for cleaning the iron. Wearing old clothes is a good idea though just in case you get wax on them.

If you buy the special encaustic art iron its very light and easy to use. The waxes are easy to apply.

It`s a very relaxing craft and every picture is different. I just have fun playing!!!!

Hope this helps.  :)

Hello,  My daughter was 13 when she discovered encaustic art.  As her birthday was coming up I bought her the complete set she needed to get going, she has never looked back.  She is now 16 and has created some beautiful pictures.  She is taking her GCSE's soon and has already produced a picture for her mocks - she obtained A* mark.  It is so easy to do, the iron is not heavy and it doesnt get too hot.  If you make a mistake or you dont like it, you can just re-do it.  You can use your stamps with it, Staz on ink is the best, you can use glitter on it, the possibilities are endless.

My five year old son has even had a go (with me watching over him) and he too has done some lovely work.  Go on have a go Im sure you will love it.

love

I have bought the starter kit........ I love it but mainly for abstrat and backgrounds for cards. Give it a go it's very therapeutic.... best not to have what you want to end up with in your mind at the begining it s free flow process.
