Why?
« on: June 20, 2006, 05:37:34 PM »
I know very little about scrapbooking, it's something I've just not got into  I keep wondering why are most scrapbooks and pages 12" x !2"

this may seem a daft question to some but it's something i've been wondering for a while now
and I was always told you'll never get anywhere unless you ask  ;D  so i'm asking

I am not sure how this size came about, it is my favourite size to work on as it allows me to get more stuff on the page, but there are lots of other sizes if you are a little daunted by 12x12. There are lots of items in 8x8, some in 6x6 and 4x4 and a lot of people work in A4 size which is loads easier to find supplies for and of course all the 12x12 papers can be cut down to suit the smaller sizes.

Thanks for that

It does seem a bit offputting being 12x12  I have seen the odd 8x8 papers   A4 does seem a better option   Do you know if  you can get the books in A4 size

Who knows one day I may have a go   I've got loads and loads of photos packed away  not even in photo albums   it seems a shame for some of them to be like that

Hi Janet, yes you can get the A4 books but they are quite hard to source in the uk, if you don't mind getting supplies from the states there is more choice, I personally like to get my supplies here in the UK. If I were a complete beginner I would start off with an 8x8 kit, they have papers and cardstock and some even come with page accents like stickers and tags, they are all colour co-ordinated so it is much less daunting, you don't have to spend too much money or time so if you don't like scrapbooking you will not have wasted too much of either. I hope you do have a go at it, I find it a great way to relax and I love working with photos of all my loved ones, it brings back loads of happy memories
