I am approaching retirement and would like to try glass painting as a retirement hobby, Does anyone know where I can get some tuition please ?
-
Hi Mike,
Can you tell me whereabouts you live
-
Morning Bob
I live in Whaley Bridge, High Peak, Derbyshire, which is about 9 miles south of Stockport
-
You could try
Dialstone Adult Education
Centre
Lisburne Lane
Offerton
Stockport SK2 7LL
Tel: 0161 474 2222
The prosectus I saw was a couple of years old but hopefully they will still do it.

Thanks Bob
I only just read your reply,it is now Sunday morning so I shall call the Centre tomorrow.
I will let you know what the situation is after I have spoken with them.
Thanks
Mike

No problem Mike, will be interested to hear how you get on
-
Mike, I hope you will put your efforts into the Gallery when you've done them, it is'nt just for cards!
I would love to try it but I have a fear of glass! It's an irrational fear, but i'm stuck with it!

;D
Ahhhh Maggie ... use ... acetate! It's bendy and friendly and cheap and great for making mistakes *ahem* I mean practising on! Plus you can stick it through the printer for the outlining.

Unfortunately Dialstone hasn't run the course for the past two years. I contacted Stockport continuing education and no joy there either .If you know of an individual who would be prepared to teach that would be great----I am not after freebies and am happy to pay for people's time and effort ( Well "happy" may be too strong a word, my son tells me my ancestry accounts for my meanness !!!!). No seriously, though I am not looking for a free ride.

HI Mike, I will have another look and ask around for you. In the meantime you could do worse than get Barry and Alans book "The Complete Guide to Glasspainting" which I believe is for sale in the shop and perhaps the Bumper Video... It would make good pre reading b4 a course. I will also PM you a website where you can pick up a few tips.

Thanks Bob

Hi Mike
Sorry for butting in here
I love glass painting I don't get chance to do as much of it as I'd like I find it very relaxing and rewarding
The Book Bob mentiones here "The Complete Guide to Glass Painting" is fantastic!!!!!
It was on my list of must haves and I'm so glad I have it now, (I took some things into my local charity shop a couple of weeks ago and had a nosey around while in there I managed to pick it up for £3-00 I couldn't believe my luck)
It is very informative, some lovely designs in it
very clear to read and understand step by step pictures are very helpful,
I know I'm only a small voice in a big world BUT ITS DEFINATELY WORTH GETTING :D
Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for
-
Thanks Janet
