If you have a traditional wooden backed rubber stamp and are finding it difficult to place exactly where you want it you could try this.
Cut the stamp away from the wood - very carefully - I use a large decoupage knife. Then mount it onto some EZ Foam and then you can use it on your acrylice blocks. I have done this to several of my stamps and it works a treat.

That is an excellent idea! I think you get used to unmounted stamps - and their advantages - very quickly. I have found it hard to use wooden mounted ones lately, so thanks for this idea!

Now there's a good idea, put my stamps away and am too lazy to get them out all the time, mainly because they were taking up too much space, have to start taking them apart.

:) This is a useful tip. I have a drawerful of wooden backed stamps I havent used since buying clear stamps so at least this way they would be used. When I think of how much they all cost too.....best say no more !!!!! ;D

Another big thank you for this idea ... I had a set of corner stamps and I could NEVER position them accurately. I took the craft knife to 'em *evil cackles* and now - using a clear acrylic block I can place them perfectly!

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and just saw this thread and had to say that there is a much easier way to unmount your wooden backed stamps. If you pop them into the microwave for 10 seconds you can then peel the rubber off, they can then be stored stuck to a piece of acetate and take up much less space. You can then use them on an acrylic block or even the see through lid from an ink pad, just attach them using something like the glue that comes in a stick.

Thanks Millie ... what a good idea. I have tried soaking the stamps in hot soapy water and the glue *unsticks* easily then but *smacked legs* i KNOW you shouldn't leave rubber stamps in water, so this will be a great alternative!

There is a stamp positioner acrylic blocks set for sale nowadays.
One is thin and rectangular and the other is L or T shape.

I recently read that you can remove stamps from wooden blocks by putting them in the microwave for 5 to 10 seconds, this will melt the glue and you can lift off the stamp. Haven't tried it so use an old stamp if you do.
